DEEP IN
THE FOREST by Jenny Rees
For Flute Choir
Inspired
by visits to the National Arboretum at Westonbirt, this piece conveys
the tranquility and beauty of a forest environment. The first movement
describes a journey into the forest, becoming surrounded by nature
and bird song. Arriving at a clearing, the second movement depicts
the peace found in a moment's rest and reflection. This moment
is magically interrupted in the third movement by the arrival of
elves darting and dancing amongst the trees, unaware of the observer.
Deep in
the Forest is for a flute choir consisting of piccolo,
3 flutes, alto flute (with alternative fourth flute part) and bass
flute and is in three movements. For players of grade
4 to 6 standard.
